This is a heritage house at the zoo, housing the head zookeeper and their family.

A few weeks ago I went and explored the Dublin Zoo. The zoo is based in the Phoenix Park which is actually twice the size of Central Park in New York. The Zoo is gorgeous with lots of space and is sharing their various initiatives for conservation and education. The Zoo was opened in 1831 and has since adapted with the times. Check out some of my pictures below!!

These monkeys were super friendly and adorable!

The Zoo has this Kaziranga Forest Trail that leads visitors past the Elephant enclosures. They have at least 10 elephants to my count - four of which were young. The Bull - or male - elephant of the herd has a separate area but does interact with the whole group.

The chimpanzees have their own island where they roam around

The Humboldt penguins were super cute and swimming were waddling all about

The giraffes were elegant and shared their habitat with the ostriches. Visitors walked up a ramp around the side of the enclosure. The Zoo has about nine giraffes that I could see.

Similar to the chimpanzees the gorillas have their own fence free enclosure called the Gorilla Rainforest, you can't always see the gorillas since they are laying around in the long grass

The Orangutans were super playful with two constantly swinging from these ropes and hitting each other. The one seemed to almost be teasing the other and pulling on his hair.

The Zoo was wonderful and the air in Ireland is so fresh that any day spent walking around outside is a great one! This zoo was one of the better ones I've been to in my life and the fact that they had signs by each animals enclosure with information about the species and what the zoo is doing specifically to help that species.

The Wellington Monument in Phoenix Park: it is the tallest obelisk in Europe
